Uniforms

In your eyes I see no life, just a cold and empty stare
Your spirit’s been imprisoned by the uniform you wear
Behind the strongest bars your ideas are controlled
So when the orders come you’ll always do just what you’re told
For so long you have believed in the sanctity of rules
Well the system you protect so well is using you as tools

Maybe one day you’ll realise as you’re just doing your job
After years of blindly following orders your humanity’s been robbed
And the criminals who stole it are the ones that pay your wage
It’s the weapon that they use to keep your mind in the cage
So from where I sit inside this cell it’s easy for me to see
Which one of us wears the shackles and which one of us is free

Do you ever stop to think that there might be a different way
Than bowing to your bosses whose commands you must obey
Does it make it that much easier if you think about the pay
When you do the things you do and you say you have no say
The excuses that you make have all been made before
That’s how millions end up murdered by enforcers of the law

The excuses that you make have all been made before
That’s where they get their power from you oppressors of the poor
The excuses that you make have all been made before
That’s how millions end up murdered by enforcers of the law
